If you use this cdev/INIT please drop me a line, send me a few bucks, a postcard or anything else you may want me to have. You do not HAVE to send my anything if you don't want to, but be kind to your friendly Mac programmers since we have your fate in our hands. HA HA HA HA
{That was an evil laugh}
This is a cdev/INIT that will allow you to set a command line to be sent to the modem upon startup. Why would you want to do this? It's true that almost all telecommunications packages set the modem for you, however, what about using Hypercard as a phone dialer? On some modems the online wait time for a carrier is 30 seconds or more. During those 30 seconds the modem quietly waits online for a carrier before it hangs up. What I have done with this INIT is set the command line to 'ATS7=5'. That way when I use Hypercard to dial a number, the modem dials a number, waits 5 seconds, then hangs up. I find that this gives just enough time for a local call to go through and the first ring just occurs as the modem hangs up. This then allows me to talk to whoever I called without blasting out my modem speaker. For more on command lines or AT commands, please refer to your modem's manual.
